My wife Tammy and I had the opportunity to visit the Cottonwood Lions last night. This was a dinner meeting at RoDonna's Country Haus and we enjoyed meeting the outstanding Lions of this town and a wonderful dinner. This club was chartered in 1947 and have been involved with many projects in their community for years. Check out the new entrance signs, they are beautiful! The club is currently working on getting a digital sign for their town, so it can be used to post up coming events and info for their community.

We found out this club is putting together the annual Community Birthday, Anniversary calendar for the 64th year.
We were told this club helped purchase the lighting for the helicopter pad at the hospital. They run the farm museum. They give scholarships to high school kids, and are getting ready to clean up and trim the trees at the Centennial Garden. And don't forget to stop by by their Lions  Trailer and purchase a Lions Burger during the fair in August.
Cottonwood just added a couple new members and like all clubs are looking for help to continue giving service to the community.

Last night myself and my wife Tammy and daughter Ashley and both my grandsons had the opportunity to visit Yakima West Valley Lions Cub. (just a quick note, they were the sponsor of my home club Selah Valley Lions)

Yakima West Valley Lions Club is like most Lions Clubs in our area who don't have a large amount of members, but give back huge service to our community.

Some of the projects they are involved with include; Indian John Rest Area Volunteer Coffee (serving coffee and cookies to weary travelers). They have headed up the District F Lions Bowling League helping bowlers who have special needs keep score for many years! Involved with Cub pack 214 and teaching young men how to be men and give back.

If you are hungry, try the Scholarship breakfast fund raiser at Applebee's put on by this Lions Club, they will keep bringing cakes until you are ready to burst.

This club has also been involved planting trees and helping take care of the needs of the West Valley Community Park.

This club has produced three District Governors over the years and have provided much support to our District.

Last but not least, Yakima West Valley Lions would like invite you to their Sept 28,2019

55th Charter Anniversary at the Howard Johnson's in Yakima, 6:30 - 9:00PM. Cost is $23.00 and you can RSVP Bill Shepherd at 509-966-3927 or 509-901-1010

I had the extreme pleasure of visiting the Yakima Lions Club on Sept 11, 2019. The Yakima Lions are extremely active in their community with many projects, and donations!

Yakima supports Camp Prime Time, Rod's House, the Lions Pool was because of them

and so many other things it hard to keep up with them. During my visitation the Club gave me a check for $1000 to give to Leader Dogs.

I also know they recently donated $20,000 to the Yakima Ag Museum to help build new bathrooms.

I also want to thank the Yakima Lions for helping out last year with the Spring Conference and also for providing outstanding leadership over the years.

A big Lion roar out to each member of this club!

Palouse is a beautiful small town with friendly, helpful people. I spent part of the day exploring the town and countryside. Had the opportunity to wet a fly line in their stream that flows past the town and enjoyed catching some Pikeminnows... I call them something else, but trying to be politically correct.

It's easy to see Palouse has had a long and proud history, and you can tell as you walk around town, they still do. Outstanding community park, with lots of playgrounds for the kids, covered shelters, monuments to their soldiers. Beautiful flowers in containers on Main street, and pride of ownership businesses in town. I even got to see Doc from the movie  Cars... or it might have been.

The Palouse lions have a small RV park you can stay in for a donation of $7 a night.
Next weekend is Palouse Days, Show and Shine and the Lions will put on another fantastic event.
They also give out two scholarships each year to a deserving student, last year was $1500 each.
There are many other projects I could list, but stop by during one if their meetings, and check out the club.

It was nice to come out of the dry hills and drop into the town of Washtucna. I spent about a hour driving around town and checking out some of the interesting sights. From what I found out, the towns population is under 100. The Washtucna Lions show a awesome presence in town, and are involved with some wonderful projects... the park being a prime example. I also got the pleasure of inducting a new member into their club. Thanks for a fun meeting, great steak dinner, and awesome fellowship. Remember, just because you're small, doesn't mean you can't make a large impression!

I had a enjoyable meeting with Naches Lions Club and also enjoyed the opportunity to come back with my wife Tammy and help out with their Sportsman Days Parade.

Naches is a strong club of men and women who are very involved with their community and its needs. For many years Naches Lions was a man only club, but a few years ago it was decided it was in the best interest of the club and community to invite women to join, and the club has truly grown. As our International president has said, diversity is so important.
Naches has many projects they are involved with in their  community, Sportsman Days, staging the parade,  annual Halloween hotdog feed, collecting Christmas boughs to decorate the town, just to name a few.   Naches has also produced some very strong leaders who have provided many years of outstanding,  and unselfish service to their fellow Lion members in our District.

Wonderful drive through the Yakima River Canyon on my way to meet the Ellensburg Lions Club. We met at the Roadhouse Restaurant at noon, and enjoyed some time learning about each other.

Ellensburg is a small club, but continues to give back to their  community. This weekend they will be providing coffee and cookies at the Indian John Rest Area.

They continue to collect eye glass to be donated to others in need. The Lions park is beautiful. I understand they are looking towards a new project with the Farmers Market in Ellensburg.

I would like to give a personal shout out to Past District Governor David Heath, and thank him for stepping up when the District needed him. I would also like to thank him for the much needed help he has provided,  and continues to provide to me as I begin this new journey as your District Governor.

Ellensburg is where I grew up and it will always have a special place in my heart. I look forwards to the continued success of this club.

Wow, what a busy day!

After a noon meeting with the Cle Elum Mountain Club, I had the opportunity to have dinner and do a quick Governor visit with my home club, the Selah Valley Lions Club.
Selah just finished helping out with National Night out cooking hotdogs, serving chips and soda. People were lined up in anticipation of those dogs cooked by bbq master Lion Mike!
The Selah Lions had almost all their members show up to help and they had a new potential member who came and helped the rest of us serve until 8pm.
Selah provides many service projects for their community, Base Race, Glow Run, Wenas Cleanup, Specials Bowling, Staging the Community Days parade and the Homecoming Parade,  and the Selah Christmas parade just to name a few.
After my visitation with the club we were invited by Lion Tammy Allan who owns TE Allan Inc. to come swim, after she rented the new Selah Aquatic Center for the evening and invited the community to come and enjoy the new facility for free.
To say I'm proud of the Selah Club would be a understatement! Here's a big Lion Roar out to you all!

Had a great lunch meeting with the Cle Elum Centennial Mountain Lions Club. The club is a little over one year old now, and are very active. Recently finished a combined project with the Westvalley Lions serving coffee at Indian John Rest Area.
President DeAnna Haverfield reported they have the final approval for Dog Days of Fall, which will help provide a new dog park for the community. On Oct 5th the club will be doing a event in the park (bring your dogs) venders, 5k walk, and after that a bbq. DeAnna said things should kick off around 2pm and last about three hours.
If you have any questions, please email DeAnna at deanna.haverfield@gmail.com or call 425-614-6957.
Congratulations to this new club, and members who are serving their community!
